There are many ways to control or reduce weeds in your driveway, but these pesky plants always seem to come back no matter what you do.

Weeds will grow wherever there is space and favorable conditions, and they can lie dormant in the soil for years before germinating, meaning you'll have to constantly battle weeds in your garden.

If you don't want to waste money on toxic and expensive solutions to get rid of these plants, one man has shared a simple and genius hack for getting rid of weeds using simple ingredients you can find around the house.

Homeowner Ian Grossman (@realestate_atx) shared a video on TikTok explaining how to make the perfect “chemical-free” solution with three ingredients: He poured one gallon of distilled white vinegar, one cup of salt, and one tablespoon of dish soap into a large pump sprayer.

The American author suggested buying a large pump from 'Home Depot', but you can find more cost-effective sprayers such as the best-selling Spear & Jackson 5 Litre Pump Action Pressure Sprayer (£13.61) on Amazon and the Dirty Pro Tools Garden Sprayer (£11.87) from B&Q.

Ian then sprayed the solution directly on the weeds, but warned us to only spray the problem plants and not the lawn as it could ruin our lawn and driveway.

In the comments section, other homeowners wondered whether this trick actually works, but someone else was quick to assure them, “It works, but it only kills the plant, not the roots. You have to reapply every month, but it's a lot cheaper and doesn't use harmful chemicals.”

Another person asked, “Don't you use a high concentration of vinegar? Spray it early in the morning so the sun can do its job better,” to which one viewer replied, “I use 30% vinegar and it works great.”

Another person commented: “Thanks for letting me know, they sell this at hardware stores!” Ian quickly replied: “I wonder how much it costs?”

If you prefer a ready-made solution, Amazon is selling the Roundup Fast Action Weedkiller 3L for £21.03, while Argos is selling the Roundup Pump 'n Go Weed Killer 5L for £30 – both products are pricey compared to some genius TikTok hacks that use existing household items.
