JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson's community gardens are beginning to take root for summer.

Vegetables such as peas, kale, lettuce, carrots and radishes, flowers and berries can all be grown in the town's organic gardens without the use of pesticides or fertilisers.

According to Slow Food, the Slow Food Community Garden Program provides gardening opportunities for people who don't have one at home, cultivates green space, builds community, increases access to fresh and healthy food, and serves as a living classroom for growers of all ages.

This year's program includes a total of 150 plots and more than 175 gardening families at three community gardens in Jackson Hole: May Park Gardens, Blair Gardens and Gardens at the Grove.

The Community Garden Program provides vegetables and flowers weekly from July through September to Hole Food Rescue, Sage Living Center and other community organizations.
According to Slow Foods, the May Park Community Garden was established in 2015 on land in the Town of Jackson donated by the May family and is now in its 10th growing season.
