(PUEBLO, CO) — The Garden Conservancy has selected three gardens in Pueblo, Colorado, for this year's Open Days Tour. The Open Days program showcases the best, most creative and innovative gardens in the country.
The program is made up of a community of gardeners and horticulture enthusiasts from across the country who come together to teach and inspire each other about gardens and gardening. Whether you're a novice gardener or a seasoned professional, experiencing a beautiful personal garden is a great way to grow as a gardener.
This year, Garden Conservation is teaming up with the Pueblo Landscaping Association and California State University-Pueblo County Extension Service to showcase three select private gardens in Pueblo. The three gardens will be open for tours on June 8th.
Conrad Family Garden — Conrad Family Garden sits on two acres on the Arkansas River bluffs and features two natural springs and ponds, surrounded by xeriscape, English garden and native prairie plants. Midway Xeric Garden — Midway Xeric Garden is a 20-year-old urban garden comprised primarily of hardy agaves and cacti, surrounded by concrete and fieldstone. Pollinator Garden — Pollinator gardens are primarily grown for insects, not humans, and are made up of flowers and shrubs that can tolerate heat and clay soils and survive with enough water.
Since 1995, Open Days has welcomed more than 1.4 million visitors to thousands of extraordinary private landscapes, including city rooftops, organic farms, historic mansions and innovative suburban subdivisions across 41 states, according to the Garden Conservancy's website.
Registration is available on the Garden Conservancy's website and costs $10 per person per garden on Open Day, or $5 for Garden Conservancy members. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
