QUEENS – Queens residents who want to honor those that served within the army on Veterans Day can head to Queens Borough Corridor subsequent week for a ceremony hosted by Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr.
The ceremony will probably be held on Tuesday. Nov. 15, at 11:30 a.m. on the Helen Marshall Cultural Heart at Queens Borough Corridor, honoring the 150,000 veterans who live in New York City.
“Queens is a borough of chance, variety and alternative as a result of, at the start, Queens is a borough of veterans — heroes who, for hundreds of years, have given a lot of themselves to protect freedom right here and around the globe,” Richards mentioned in an announcement.
The keynote tackle will probably be delivered by Choose Marcia Hirsch of the eleventh Judicial District, which incorporates the Queens Misdemeanor Veterans Remedy Court docket.
This courtroom connects Queens veterans arrested for nonviolent drug offenses with substance abuse therapy as an alternative choice to incarceration.
A trio of Queens veterans will even be honored for his or her service as energetic obligation army members and as advocates for veterans of their communities.
The ceremony will even embody the presentation of colours by the Francis Lewis Excessive College Junior ROTC Shade Guard.
