Osun: Herbalist kills friend to make ritual soap for 'Yahoo Boys'

A 50-year-old herbalist, Kehinde Ganiyu, has been arrested by operatives of the Osun State Police Command for allegedly murdering his Ghanaian friend.

Ganiyu is alleged to have brutally murdered his long-time friend, Emmanuel Collins, for ritualistic purposes.

Osun Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, on Friday, while escorting the suspect, revealed that the suspect slit the throat of his friend to make ritual soap for internet fraudsters known as “Yahoo Boys”.

According to the police, the incident occurred last Thursday at Obaoke, Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun State.

Items found with the suspect included four bloodstained knives, a chisel, two gourds, a traditional wooden pot with black soap, two sponges with black soap, a traditional tray (Opong Ifa) and local amulets.

Ganiyu confessed to reporters on Friday, July 26, that he had killed his close friend and used his throat to make ritual soap.

He explained: “My friend Emmanuel Collin was sick so I went to visit him. While he was sleeping I slit his throat with a knife and used parts of him to make ritual money soap for the Yahoo Boys.”

“I'm a herbalist and a farmer. I used to perform such rituals for the Yahoo Boys, but they would bring the human parts. This time I'll be finding the parts myself.”

“I also attended the funeral, but following police suspicion and investigation I was arrested and I regret my actions. I cannot believe I could kill a long-time friend like this.”
