Can too much rain harm your garden?

Welcome to our weekly podcast with longtime Anchorage Daily News gardening writer and author Jeff Lowenfels and co-host Jonathan White, which accompanies Jeff's weekly ADN gardening column and his popular series of books.

The guys were talking about the recent constant rainfall in south-central Alaska, and Jonathan asked, “Can too much rain be bad for your garden?” It turns out this is a delicate issue. If your outdoor garden has a healthy soil food web, for example, rain isn't as big an issue. Just remember that overwatering indoor plants can be bad.

After a break, the team discussed Alaska’s abundant edible wildflowers, including fireweed, dandelions and watermelon fruit.

Finally, they answer questions from listeners, one of which concerns Jeff's favorite food: radishes.
