The program was offered in a 13-week hybrid format as a collaborative training between CCE Chautauqua County and CCE Cattaraugus County. Congratulations to the 2024 Master Gardener Apprentice Class: Matthew Bucholz, Anna Crouss, Sarah De-Vries Joran, Emily Edmunds, Brad Emory, Jean File, Jennifer Francois, Susannah Frigon, Kayla Giunta, Kiersten Hansen, Mimi Joint, Richard Kunkle, Kelly Loverdi, Fileve Palmer, Eleni Phufas-Jousma, Stephanie Pikulski, JoJo Pingitore, Kimberly Rowe, Lynda Sen, Laurie Skinner, Lynn Smith, Kathryn Thrush, Robin Valeri and Kathryn “Kari” Wilcox.

The Master Gardener Program is a nationwide program of trained volunteers who partner with county cooperative extension offices to provide research-based information to home gardeners, expanding educational efforts throughout the community.

Here in Chautauqua County, the program is part of a community gardening outreach effort where volunteers educate home gardeners, youth in school and after-school programs, local horticulturists, and consumers of garden products. Neighbors teach neighbors about landscaping, fruits, vegetables, herbs, beneficial and harmful insects, plant diseases, integrated pest management, wildlife, soil, composting, and more.
